All of their call centers are based in the U.S., have multilingual certified EMT call center technicians to help you 24 hours a day and are TMA 5-Diamond Certified. ResponseLINK will stay on the phone until help arrives. Even if you can't speak, they will ensure help will arrive. They claim to have served Response Link systems to over 100,000 Americans to date. *Note - Alert1 and Modern Senior Magazine are wholly owned and operated by ResponseLINK, LLC.

Review Summary

ResponseLINK offers a variety of medical alert system services including an affordable in-home medical alert monitoring system with or without a landline, automatic fall detection and a mobile alert system. They do offer a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not happy with the service, free tech support, unlimited button presses and offer advanced payment discounts.

There are three system packages that ResponseLINK offers:

1. In-Home Medical Alert System: Traditional in-home medical alert system that uses a landline. If you do not have a landline, simply let them know and they will give you the wireless home medical alert system.

2. Fall Detection Medical Alert System: In-home system that does not require a landline. The small pendant senses a fall and will automatically signal their command center.

3. Mobile Alert System: On-the-go coverage with Geolocation services. It provides two-way communication with 911 location technology and has up to a 30-day battery life from a single charge. The system is powered by the T-Mobile cellular network. 



Pros

No equipment or set-up charges, no long-term contracts, free shipping, automatic fall detection available, EMD certified multilingual operators and advanced payment discounts. Monitoring centers are TMA 5-Diamond Certified. "Smart" self-testing for the Mobile Alert System. 


Cons 

No pill reminder, carbon monoxide, or smoke detector options available. Only quarterly, semi-annual and annual payment options, but you do get a discount if paying semi-annually or annually. No automatic testing for the in-home systems.

Response Link’s In-Home Medical Alert System (requires a landline) has one of the lowest price points on the market for similar products when paying semi-annually or annually. Their other product offers are also extremely competitively priced. With no long-term contracts, equipment fees and free shipping, it makes Response Link very affordable to try. The free shipping option takes 1-5 business days for the system to arrive. If you need express shipping, it will cost you $19.95 for 2-day shipping and $59.95 for next business day. Please note, we did not see an option to pay monthly on their services.

What We Like About ResponseLINK

Flexible Monitoring Agreement - You can cancel at any time without penalty. Make sure to promptly return the equipment. Once they receive the system back, they will cancel your service. 

Fall Detector Option – Many seniors are at risk of falling in their home. Automatic fall detection gives families peace of mind that if a fall does occur, then the system will detect it and call for help automatically.

No Phone Line/Cellular Option - Since not every household has a traditional telephone line, having a reliable no-phone line option is a must.

Mobile GEO Location Option - For seniors or even young children on the go, this may be an important option for you. Take your medical alert protection out of the house and use it wherever you go.

Advanced Payment Discounts- You will receive a discount on the medical alert services if you decide to pay semi-annually or annually. This can save you over $70 a year.

TMA (CSAA) Five Diamond Monitoring Center - This is an important certification that requires an annual renewal with The Monitoring Association, which shows a commitment to a higher level of service. The center is tested to be sure the monitoring is up to the highest standards set by the association.

What We Dislike About ResponseLINK

No Automatic Tests - The In-Home system's console does not automatically test periodically to the monitoring station. This means you or your loved one will have to manually test the system at least twice a month to be sure the system is working properly by pressing the button on the pendant. This is the way to fully test the system from the pendant to the monitoring center. The Mobile Alert System does self-test but you should test the system manually each month (at a minimum), as well. 

No Activity Monitoring - Activity monitoring typically requires the user to check in with the system by pressing a button once every 24 hours. It can also use more advanced features like bed sensors, motion sensors and door contacts to report discrepancies in normal daily routines. This is very beneficial as it allows you to know that your loved one is active and about each day.

No Pill Reminder Option - Having the system remind you of when to take medication is a nice feature, although not required by all. Many of these services have the main unit console provide some sort of beep reminder on regular interval to remind you of when to take your medication. The downside to this option is that it will not tell you what or how much medication to take.

No Carbon Monoxide or Smoke Detection - Both are important features to have in your home and monitored devices like Response Link can provide more protection by offering this feature.

What Others Are Saying About ResponseLINK

Response Link is not a BBB accredited business. They do have an "A" Better Business Bureau rating at the time of this review, as opposed to an "A+," for failure to be transparent about ownership, location, or products/services offered. Currently there are no complaints on file with the BBB.

Finding reviews on Response Link has been scarce. However, we did find a few user comments on review sites about their refund policy. One previous user noted that if you cancel even one day into the billing cycle, they will not prorate the month and you will be charged for that full month. We do not find this practice out of the ordinary.

Others complained about their sales staff being helpful and friendly when you are a prospective customer but when you want to cancel, they change their tune. There were a few reports of having difficulties cancelling the service.


Bottom Line 

ResponseLINK is not a newcomer to the medical alert monitoring industry, in fact, they have been in the medical alert business for over 30 years. They offer straightforward monitoring options and payment plans. We like that they offer advanced payment discounts, however, we did not see an option to pay monthly as that may be the most feasible for more people. They have both in-home traditional systems and mobile on-the-go with an automatic fall detection package.

It’s nice to see that ResponseLINK does not have any long-term monitoring agreements, a 30-day money back policy and free shipping. We would love to see activity monitoring, medication reminders and/or carbon monoxide and smoke detection options available for their customers.

We like that their monitoring centers are based in the U.S and have EMT trained operators available who can speak multiple languages. Their monitoring centers are also 5-Diamond Certified which gives added peace of mind to help ensure the highest level of monitoring service. 

We had a pleasant call experience with ResponseLINK. When you call ResponseLINK, they will ask you for name but will not push you for further details. The customer service representative was very knowledgeable about the product and not pushy. Please note that the customer service center is not open on the weekends so if you have questions or would like to sign-up over the phone, you will have to call during regular business hours.

Although our experience with this company had these results, your experience may be different. If you're interested in this company's services, contact them to judge for yourself.
