Review Summary:

HelpButton.com is one of the latest medical alert devices to come on the market. HelpButton is a family owned business with ties to the medical alert industry for more than a decade and prides themselves on providing a reliable in-home/mobile device at an affordable cost. Backed by two central monitoring stations that are TMA certified and UL-Listed, we're told that HelpButton has one of the fastest response times in the industry.

HelpButton offers 3 different medical monitoring package options with the latest technology and their monthly rates are reasonably priced. HomeButton's Mobile Ally medical alert button can be worn inside and outside of the home with unlimited range. HelpButton does have UL-Listed equipment as well as an owned and operated TMA (CSAA) Five Diamond Certified monitoring center for additional peace of mind.

There are three medical alert system packages HelpButton offers:

1. HelpButton Standard Package: GPS and Wifi enabled wearable medical alert device with two-way voice that can be worn inside and outside of the home and has unlimited range since there's no base station. Includes unlimited calls and talk time through the device.

2. HelpButton Select Package: This includes all the same features as the standard package, but it comes with a protection plan. If you need a replacement device for whatever reason, it will only cost $10 with this plan.

3. HelpButton Supreme Package: All the same medical alert device features as listed above, however this comes with automatic fall detection and a technology called Ally Locate. With this system, a caregiver can send a text message and get an immediate response containing a Google map link of the exact location of their loved one.

Pros:

No equipment or set-up charges, free shipping, 30-day money back guarantee, no long-term contracts and reasonably priced system packages. Per the company, HelpButton owns and operates their own TMA (CSAA) Five Diamond Certified centers with EMT certified call center dispatchers. They have medical alert coverage options that include GPS, text to locate and automatic fall detection. Their medical alert button has unlimited range since there's no base station it has to communicate with.

Cons:

The help button must be charged since it only has a 5 day battery life. No wellness or activity monitoring. No carbon monoxide or smoke detector options available. No advanced payment discounts. No automatic testing of the system.

Likes:

30-Day Money Back Guarantee - You have 30 days to be sure you're satisfied.

No Contract- You can cancel at any time, even before the service has started, if you change your mind. You must return the equipment and pay for the return shipping.

24-Hour Support - Support is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Fall Detector Option - Since diabetics can have the tendency to faint, fall detectors can be helpful because the user would be unable to press their medical emergency button. This feature is available with their Supreme package.

No Phone Line Required - Since not every household has a traditional telephone line, having a reliable no phone line option is a must.

GPS and Location Tracking Option - For seniors or even young children on the go, this may be an important option for you.

Talk Through Pendant Technology - Two-way voice featured and available with any of the HelpButton monthly options you choose.  Your loved one can speak directly into the speakerphone on the pendant which allows more flexibility in an emergency, just outside of the home.

Owned and Operated TMA (CSAA) Five Diamond Monitoring Centers- This is an important certification that requires an annual renewal and shows a commitment to a higher level of service.

Dislikes:

Requires Charging - The pendant must be charged since the battery will only last up to 5 days.

No Automatic Weekly Tests -

The system will not automatically test to the monitoring station. User will have to remember to manually test the system.

No Activity Monitoring - Activity monitoring typically requires the user to check in with the system by pressing a button once every 24 hours. This is very beneficial as it allows you to know that your loved one is active and about each day. You could use the Ally Locate feature to see if your loved one is out and about and following their daily routine.

No Pill Reminder Option - Having the system remind you of when to take medication is a nice feature, although not required by all. Many of these services have the main unit console provide some sort of beep reminder on regular interval to remind you of when to take your medication. The downside to this option is that it will not tell you what or how much medication to take.

No Carbon Monoxide or Smoke Detection - Both are important features to have in your home and monitored devices can provide more protection. Since the HelpButton system is completely self-contained in the pendant, it cannot provide these types of services like a traditional medical alert system can.

Bottom Line:

HelpButton has a great two-way voice medical alert button option and their product offerings are streamlined so that it is not confusing for the consumer. They essentially have one product with an ad-on services like a protection plan, automatic fall detection and Ally Location which is their tracking technology. Their monthly cost is very reasonable compared to other medical alert device systems on the market.

Another huge plus for HelpButton is their level of medical alert monitoring service. Per the company, their monitoring centers are owned and operated in-house and they are TMA (CSAA) Five Diamond certified. With no-long term contracts and 30-day money back policy, it is easy to try HelpButton for yourself. We also like that the pendand has an unlimited range (limited only to cellular service coverage in your home and areas you visit) and it does not use a traditional landline telephone.

It is important to note that the HelpButton system does not automatically test itself, so you will have to do this manually. The battery in the device will need to be charged within 5 days as well. Keep in mind if you do return the system, you will have to pay for the shipping costs. The HelpButton brand is relatively new to the medical alert industry and there is minimal information on their website. There's also no chat feature, which would make answering simple questions much easier.

When calling HelpButton for additional information, the sales representative was very friendly and helpful with all our questions. At the end of the call, they did give a lengthy sales pitch on what makes HelpButton stand out in the medical alert marketplace. They also made a push to collect our home address or phone number to send additional marketing materials to and follow-up with us.

HelpButton is not Better Business Bureau accredited and they currently do not have a BBB rating since they are still new to the marketplace.
