Alarmcare Equipment

Review Summary:
In business since 1988, Alarmforce's Alarmcare medical alert service provide's basic medical alert services at a reasonable monthly fee. Since their services are based in Toronto Canada, we do not feel that they should be a top choice for U.S.-based customers. If you add up their $69.00 shipping fee and required first 3-months of service, their offering falls short of many other offers.

Pros: Reasonable monthly fee, Button can be worn as a watch, wrist, pendant, Offer 24-hour technical support, Operate their own UL-Listed monitoring facility.

Cons: Based in Toronto Canada, Up front costs, No true activity monitoring option, Could take many days to receive the system, No other discounts available.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

Likes:

Flexible Monitoring Agreement - You can cancel at any time with written notice, but you must pay first three months up front.

Monitoring Center - They own and operate their own UL-Listed central station

24-Hour Support – Alarmforce's Alarmcare has support available 24 hours per day.

Dislikes:

Not U.S. Based – If you are located in the United States, we see no reason why you should work with a Canadian or other international company. You can get equipment faster, and at a lower cost, with a U.S.-based provider.

No Automatic System Tests – Most system consoles will automatically test weekly or monthly to the monitoring station, but Alarmcare offers no automatic testing at all.

Unattractive Equipment - Although the buttons are industry standard, their base unit is clumsy and confusing.

Canceling Service – If you are not happy with your system or service, you will have some out of pocket expenses for set-up fees and your first 3-months of service.

No Activity Monitoring – Activity monitoring typically requires the user to check in with the system by pressing a button once every 24 hours. This is very beneficial as it allows you to know that your loved one is active and about each day.

They do provide a "supervision" service that will tell you if the button is out of range for more than 24-hours, but we see no real benefit to this unless you're concerned of someone wandering off and not returning home. Alarmcare tried to make us feel as though this was a comparable service to activity monitoring, and it is clearly not.

No Discounts For Advanced Payments – Monthly payments are your only option. The convenience of quarterly or annual payments can be desirable, especially if you can receive a discount.

No Fall Detector Option – Since diabetics can have the tendency to faint, fall detectors can be helpful because the user would be unable to press their medical emergency button.

Bottom Line:

Alarmforce's Alarmcare medical alert service is based in Toronto Canada, and we do not feel that this should be a top choice for U.S.-based customers. Our list of dislikes is lengthy and their equipment does not look user friendly. If you add up their $69.00 shipping fee and required first 3-months of service, their offering falls short of many other offers.

Although our experience with this company had these results, your experience may be different. If you're interested in this company's services, contact them to judge for yourself.
